Frequently Asked Questions
The questions our front desk fields most often, before and during a stay on Gregory Street.
What's the minimum age to play on the casino floor?
21. Colorado's limited-stakes gaming law restricts the gaming floor itself to guests 21 and older, but the rest of the resort — rooms, dining rooms, the spa, and the pool deck — welcomes guests of all ages.
How far is Black Hawk from Denver?
About 40 minutes under normal traffic, via I-70 west to Highway 6 and up through Clear Creek Canyon, or via Highway 119 through Central City. Weekend afternoon traffic on I-70 can add time, especially during ski season.
Will I notice the elevation?
Some guests do, especially arriving straight from sea level. We're at 7,975 feet, which is enough for mild shortness of breath or a headache on day one for a few visitors. Drinking extra water and going easy on alcohol the first evening usually helps.
Is parking included?
Self-parking in our heated garage is complimentary for overnight guests. Valet parking is available at the main entrance for a nightly fee, and day visitors to the casino floor or dining rooms receive validated self-parking.
Do you run a ski season shuttle?
Yes, during the winter season we run a scheduled shuttle to partner ski areas including Eldora Mountain Resort. Ask the front desk or your reservations agent for the current schedule when you book.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in begins at 4:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out can often be arranged based on availability — ask at booking or call the front desk the morning of your arrival.
Are pets allowed?
We're able to accommodate pets in a limited number of designated rooms for an additional cleaning fee. Call the reservations desk in advance, since pet-friendly rooms are limited and book quickly.
Is the pool open year-round?
Yes. The Clear Creek Pool Deck runs a retractable glass roof, so the heated pool and hot tub stay open through the winter. The roof opens on warmer days and the private cabanas along the deck run seasonally.
Do the dining rooms require reservations?
The Assay House recommends reservations, especially Friday and Saturday evenings. Gregory Street Diner, Tramway Tavern, and Overlook Terrace accept walk-ins, though weekend evenings can still mean a short wait.
Can you host weddings or corporate events?
Yes. Our events team handles everything from a 20-person rehearsal dinner in a private dining room to a 300-guest wedding in Gregory Hall. See our event venues page for capacities and details.
